the creekbed flooded when the rains came

maybe some day i'll get up off your couch
after staring at the names just trying to figure out how
did you really mean it when you said that i wasn't cool
that i could be in better places if i'd tried a little harder in school
was this what you mean when you said life could get tough
and that getting a year older starts to feel kinda rough
did you really mean it when you said you thought i was funny
and it really doesn't matter i don't have any money

used to feel like the summer morn
but now i'm planning winters to stay warm
left two foot of brackish dark as hell
you can drown in much less, just as well

on a tree that i used for shade
i think that he made it through the holidays
all the same
